Combining an eclectic mix of classic rock and acoustic covers with an astonishingly accomplished library of original material, the music essentially speaks for itself. With influences ranging from the gentle sounds of Pink Floyd and Barclay James Harvest, through to contemporary songsmiths such as Damien Rice and Newton Faulkner, Adam's original material blends thoughtful lyrics with captivating melodies.
The live shows are a great way to get to know the man and the music, providing a varied selection of handcrafted original material and carefully chosen cover versions.
Mixing 6 and 12 string acoustic guitars with touches of piano and heartfelt vocals, Adam's live show blends poignant melodies with foot tapping rhythms that stay with you long after the show is over.
Caught during a break in recording at Fairview Studios, Adam talks about the influences that have shaped his music.
"I distinctly remember the first time I really fell in love with the guitar - it was when I was 13 years old, in the Roman Bath pub in York, watching Mostly Autumn play The Last Climb.
I had been having guitar lessons from Bryan Josh and had been invited to one of their gigs, and I remember sitting right at the front, being mesmerised by the sheer soundscape that filled the place.
I had been dabbling with the guitar since I was about 9 or 10; working my way through my Dad's book of Beatles' songs, before I decided to move onto learning lead guitar. It was Bryan that then really introduced me to the sounds of Pink Floyd and other great 70s bands, and made me realise the importance of playing from the heart, and allowing the guitar to permeate the music with sensitivity.
I then went on to write songs for my first band, Paraphernalia, and we played our first gig when I was 14. By the time I was 16 I was working at a local music venue, Fibbers, as the lighting engineer, and the experience of seeing different bands every night of the week was something which fed directly into my understanding of live music.
It was this that taught me about the power of a live performance, as well as the importance of lighting effects and sound reproduction. I then went on to play bass guitar for a local band, The Asylum Seekers, whilst occasionally engineering the lights for Mostly Autumn's local gigs. I started engineering sound as well as lights and enjoyed being involved with a range of bands, as well as fronting a covers band as singer and guitarist.
Since then I have been mostly found in the corner of cosy pubs with my acoustic guitar, performing my own songs blended with choice cover versions of the songs which have inspired me."
